In Short
The Black Knight Spawning Brushes are a straightforward tool for koi enthusiasts. This two-pack offers a safe, soft-bristled environment designed to mimic natural spawning grounds, helping protect eggs from being eaten by broodfish in your backyard pond.
Our Review
If you are serious about managing your pond's population, these spawning brushes serve as a simple, effective solution. Measuring 59 inches long and 4 inches in diameter, the brushes provide ample surface area for koi to lay their eggs, effectively simulating the natural vegetation they would seek out in the wild. Setup is fairly intuitive, as the brushes include fixing loops to help secure them just below the water level. However, users should be prepared for the necessary maintenance steps, such as transferring the brushes to a separate container after spawning to ensure the eggs survive and eventually hatch without the risk of predation.
Standout Features
These brushes stand out for their fish-safe construction and practical design. The soft bristles are specifically engineered to avoid harming your fish, while the generous length allows for significant egg collection during the active spawning season.
What We Like
We appreciate that this is a complete, two-pack solution designed for immediate use. The inclusion of integrated fixing loops makes installation much easier than DIY alternatives, and the soft, non-abrasive material is gentle on delicate fish.
