In Short
The Dev Fishing SS100 sun shade offers a streamlined, strap-free solution for adding coverage to boats under 25 feet. Designed to mount directly into a single rocket launcher, it provides quick relief from the sun without sacrificing valuable rod storage space.
Our Review
For boaters looking to escape the sun without installing a permanent canopy, the Dev Fishing SS100 presents a straightforward, minimalist option. Its three-piece aluminum frame is designed for quick assembly, making it a viable solution for those who want shade only when they need it most. Because it mounts directly into a single rocket launcher, it avoids the messy, cumbersome straps often associated with temporary boat shades.
However, this product is specifically engineered for boats 25 feet and under, which limits its utility for larger vessels. Before purchasing, verify that your boat has an available, sturdy rocket launcher mount, as the entire stability of the canopy relies on that single attachment point. It is a specialized tool best suited for casual anglers or day cruisers who prioritize ease of setup over heavy-duty wind resistance.
Standout Features
The primary advantage of the SS100 is its intelligent mounting system. By utilizing just one rocket launcher, it clears the deck of obstructive ropes and straps, ensuring that you can still access your other fishing rods and gear while the shade is deployed.
What We Like
We appreciate the inclusion of the carry bag, which makes this setup genuinely portable for weekend outings. The fade-resistant mesh material also suggests good longevity, provided it is handled and stored according to manufacturer expectations.
