In Short

Our Review

The SIGMA 40" OOO cutaway guitar balances vintage-inspired aesthetics with modern playability, aimed at musicians looking for a reliable instrument. With its 40-inch total length and 24.9-inch scale, it offers a manageable size that is well-suited for both beginners finding their footing and experienced players needing a dependable secondary guitar. The inclusion of an OOO body shape typically provides a focused tone that sits well in a mix, making it a versatile companion for songwriting and practice sessions.

However, potential buyers should note that while Sigma emphasizes craftsmanship and pre-shipping inspection, this is a distinct acoustic-electric model that relies on its construction materials for sound quality. The satin natural finish and sturdy build aim to provide durability, yet players expecting highly specialized onboard electronics might need to manage their expectations regarding the integrated features, as the focus here is primarily on the wood construction and acoustic projection.

Standout Features

This model stands out for its solid construction, utilizing a solid spruce top paired with sapele/mahogany back and sides. The use of premium D'Addario EXP16 phosphor bronze strings right out of the box adds significant value, while the rosewood fingerboard and bridge provide a tactile, traditional feel that many guitarists prefer for comfort and sustain.

What We Like

We appreciate the deliberate choice of a 24.9-inch scale length, which generally results in lower string tension and easier fretting for chord work. The OOO cutaway design is also a major plus, as it grants easier access to the upper frets compared to traditional non-cutaway acoustic shapes, enhancing the guitar's utility for lead playing and complex arrangements.
