Our Review
The Ubiquiti UniFi Switch 8 60W (US-8-60W) is designed for those who need to expand their network with reliable, managed hardware. With eight gigabit Ethernet ports and four ports that support 802.3af PoE, it offers enough flexibility to power devices like access points or IP cameras directly through the switch. Its small, compact form factor makes it an unobtrusive addition to a desk or small networking shelf.
Management is handled through the UniFi Controller, which allows for centralized control over multiple sites. This system is convenient for users who appreciate being able to monitor traffic, configure network settings, and view statistics from a single interface. However, potential buyers should note that this switch requires the UniFi management software to unlock its full potential, so it is best suited for users who are comfortable with that ecosystem.
Standout Features
This switch features a switching capacity of 16 Gbps, allowing it to process traffic on all ports simultaneously at line rate without packet loss. The four auto-sensing PoE ports deliver up to 15.4W each, providing sufficient power for many standard network peripherals while maintaining a quiet background noise level of 27.5 dB.
What We Like
We appreciate the balance of performance and size in this unit. Having centralized management via the UniFi Controller interface is a major plus for those who want to keep track of their network statistics and configurations without dealing with complex, disconnected hardware management.
