In Short
The Ubiquiti UniFi Switch Lite 8 PoE is a capable, managed Layer 2 switch designed for home networks or small offices needing reliable power for access points and cameras. It delivers solid performance in a compact, wall-mountable frame.
Our Review
The USW-Lite-8-PoE is a fully managed Layer 2 switch that fits neatly into space-constrained environments. With eight Gigabit Ethernet ports, it provides plenty of connectivity for wired devices, while four of those ports offer 802.3at PoE+ support to power access points or VoIP phones directly over the Ethernet cable.
Because this is a managed device, it requires the UniFi Network Controller software or mobile app for setup and ongoing monitoring. This gives advanced users a powerful graphical interface to oversee network traffic and port status from anywhere, though it may be overkill for someone looking for simple plug-and-play connectivity.
Standout Features
The standout aspect of this switch is its integration into the UniFi ecosystem, allowing for centralized configuration via a single controller. It includes a total PoE budget of 52W from its external power adapter, which is sufficient for typical home setups involving multiple access points.
What We Like
We appreciate the inclusion of a wall-mounting kit, which helps keep cabling clean and tidy in tight spaces. The ability to manage and monitor the switch remotely through the UniFi mobile app makes it a convenient choice for users who like granular control over their network performance.
