In Short

Our Review

The Wolman F&P Wood Finish and Preservative is formulated to treat both new and weathered exterior wood surfaces. Its oil-based, deep-penetrating transparent stain is intended to beautify wood while guarding against common issues like cracking, splitting, and warping. The finish offers UV and water-repellent protection, which helps prevent the typical fading and graying often caused by sun exposure and rain.

While this product is versatile enough to be applied by either brush or sprayer on various structures, users should keep in mind that coverage is limited to 150 to 200 square feet per gallon. Because it comes in a four-pack of one-gallon containers, it is best suited for larger projects rather than minor touch-ups. Be sure to calculate the total square footage of your area beforehand to ensure you have enough material to complete the job in one session.

Standout Features

The standout feature of this product is its ability to penetrate deep into the wood fibers, providing significant water and UV resistance. It balances aesthetic enhancement by highlighting the natural grain and texture of the wood with functional preservation that prevents structural damage like splitting and warping.

What We Like

We appreciate that this stain is effective on both new and weathered wood, making it a flexible solution for various maintenance needs. Its transparent finish is a great choice if you prefer to maintain a natural look rather than obscuring the wood grain with a heavy solid stain.
